Athena Talks Tech in Dublin

Tech is at the heart of what Athena do each and every day for Ireland’s post primary schools. So our founder Emily Brick was delighted to get the opportunity to join David Burke for Dublin Tech Talks in December 2020.

Although based in Kerry, Athena’s offering is for schools based right across Ireland and we are also always on the look out for new tech talent from outside Kerry.

During the interview with David, Emily gave a glimpse of her background in data science and analytics and how this background combined with an early exposure to the school’s system led her to found Athena Analytics. Emily also shared how technology has been a vital part of Athena’s journey from the very start. By embracing tech early on, Athena was able to uniquely target their offering to schools and most importantly transform and scale from just a consultancy business to a data analytics software company.

School’s are busy, busy places and young people can find themselves out of sync and not achieving their individual potential. Athena’s mission is to ensure no student gets lost in the hectic school system. Through the use of technology, we are actively tackling the “data problem” in schools, by taking large amounts of data schools are looking at every day and translating them into interpretable, meaningful results.

One of the biggest and most recent technology developments at Athena is the Tracker and we were able to share some insights around this journey. The Athena Tracker can help support individual students at the heart of the school system as well as helping school administration staff to reap the rewards of real time data analysis.

It was a pleasure to be part of these informative tech talks and huge thanks to David from Dublin Tech Talks, for facilitating this.
